Latin??

Tuesday

What a day yesterday was. I was in an inpatient mood all day. It didn't help to get my Latin test back. I didn't do as well as I had hoped. Once again the translations got me. But I started thinking about it when I read what the right answers should have been. For example: Illos cum amicis ibi capietis. The literal translation is: Ya'll will take those men with their friends there. Now does that make sense? Does Hanson really expect me to translate a sentence that doesn't make sense? I think that is where my problem lies. I struggle to produce a sentence that makes sense so I translate incorrectly. Another example: Nos tecum in terram eorum mittit. Translation: He sends us with you into the the land of them. What horrible English...its not even good Latin. I wish he would just give us a paragraph from Cicero...or anyone for that matter. Latin is based on context so individual words or sentences are near impossible to translate. A whole paragraph is tons easier. So anyway, my average is dropping...its now at 86. **Sigh**
Tonight is Harrius Potter...Harry Potter in Latin...now thats alot easier. Not to mention we have the great guidance of Laura Gibbs but its easy to follow the context. I missed last week because I was hard at studying Latin but I'm headed that way this week. We are also going to do Border's night tonight because tomorrow we are going to watch "Whale Rider"with Laura and the Mythology and Folklore folks.
All Hallow's Eve bash is on Saturday. Still no costumes but thats ok. I suppose it isn't required. Richelle has a Halloween party at one of her friends house. That is on Friday. Greg and I are going to see Shane Henry in Wichita Falls that night but Joyce has agreed to transport Richelle. :)
I've seriously considered doing a rant on TV. I actually watched more tv this weekend than I have in a long time. Sunday night I watched part of Cold Case and then a movie "The Dead will Tell" Got a massive headache from it. I can sit at the puter 24/7 and be fine. TV kills me, hehe.
There was an editorial on watching TV the other day in the OU newspaper...wonder if I saved it. I'll have to check.
I've also considered doing a musician of the day. But first I need to get my CD's organized. They are mess at the moment. Maybe I can work on that today.
So I guess its good I write all this stuff down here so I can look back and remind myself. Its part of the reason I don't get anything done is because I totally forget about it until its the wrong time.
I may be donating plasma today. We are way broke and will need some cash to get by. But it always makes me feel like crap afterwards. But gotta do what you gotta do! Did manage to get up enough cash to get the kittens a bag of food before they drove me crazy.
OK....guess this is it for the day. I find it much easier to write in the mornings as opposed to writing at the end of the day. But if I have things to say...i will write again.

Laura Gibbs Websites She's very smart lady. Check out all that she does.
